One of my favorite early paintings, Iris is my favorite flower. A gallery owner in Cincinnati dismissed it for his space saying, "That's just too Van Gogh" never realizing that as a self-trained artist had no knowledge of Van Gogh's painting of Irises which contains just one white flower. It was years later, when I saw the movie, Little Man Tate, that I realized what he meant. I never sold the original, painted thickly on hand stretched canvas. It serves to remind of individuality and the beauty of being different. May it do the same for you.
When asked what I "do", I generally answer' "Yes". I have worked professionally in pencil, pen, paint than 40 years and in digital media almost as long. Change is important to me as it lays the ground for play and exploring which is a vital part of everything I do. An illustrator at heart, whether my work is an abstract, figurative, mural or a cartoon, I tend to tell stories with my art. Sometimes the story is about what is shown, other times it is about the the media and how it is made.
