The drip style I work with is a process of alternately layering fields of translucent color and blowing ribbons of paint fed by brushfuls of polymer-infused water to create interactions between the fields and dimensions as they emerge. It is a visceral mix of moving and directing color in a way that mimics the spray of waves and also settles into marble textures, catching light as it rolls out. Like most of my abstract paintings I enjoy an other-worldly experience as I interact with the forms and movement as it arises. I seek to capture and communicate this experience in the final work.
When asked what I "do", I generally answer' "Yes". I have worked professionally in pencil, pen, paint than 40 years and in digital media almost as long. Change is important to me as it lays the ground for play and exploring which is a vital part of everything I do. An illustrator at heart, whether my work is an abstract, figurative, mural or a cartoon, I tend to tell stories with my art. Sometimes the story is about what is shown, other times it is about the the media and how it is made.
